10/12/07: "Senator Lindsey Graham Lacks Compassion For Women"
At a meeting Wednesday night, October 10th at Sticky Fingers in North Charleston, a woman in the audience faced off with
the speaker, Lindsey Graham over the issue of sexual predators coming across the border.
"I was telling [U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham] how I have been mistreated by illegal men and that they don't prosecute
for rape in Mexico. When I mentioned over 45,000 Americans have been murdered and killed by illegals since Sept. 11, 2001
. . . he lost it. He became a lunatic."
Sheri is a resident of Charleston who not too long ago lived in Vail, Colorado. Vail, like the rest of Colorado, has
seen a huge surge in the number of illegal aliens in recent years. Sheri reports that she was repeatedly sexually harassed
by illegal aliens in the area. Obscene gestures and comments were common and she was even spat upon by one of the men.
On one occasion two illegal aliens " . . . followed me home mouthing off in Spanish and laughing at me. I truly feel
the only reason they did not drag me off was because it was cold out and snowing."
Sheri says that on a three and a half week trip through Mexico's countryside in 1994, she noticed that the general demeanor
of the women there was solemn and depressed as opposed to the more animated personalities of the men in the same culture.
Her subsequent studies on the subject have revealed that many women are routinely sexually abused from childhood in Mexico
and other Latin American countries. They are regarded as 'sex toys' and are subject to abuse by men at any time."
Respect for the law is not very high there since the police there are frequently guilty of rape as are many other men
in the villages. Sheri also tells of the experience of a friend's daughter who was forcibly groped by a policeman in Mexico
while her husband was forced to watch, intimidated by the armed officer.
In a phone conversation with Sheri, she made it clear to me that she was not saying that all illegal aliens are sexual
predators. She then pointed out that Lindsey Graham wants to give amnesty to these sex criminals and gang members along with
all the others who are illegally here. Where there is no record of arrest or prosecution, there is no way to screen for sexual
crimes even if U.S. agencies were given access to records in Mexico.
In an email to NumbersSC.com, Sheri explains what happened Wednesday night in her confrontation with Graham:
"[B]efore I asked my question . . . Lindsey talked about how we have to crack down on employers who hire illegals
. . . and we must secure the borders . . . "
Her response was "[A] few months back you tried to get a massive amnesty passed. Why does the senate continue to
try to push amnesty on us? It should never come up ever again. We are allowing this third world tsunami of men who don't respect
women into this country. They don't prosecute for rape in Mexico."
Sheri then went on to explain some of what she'd been through in Colorado and, in addition, what she'd been going through
since moving to Charleston:
"I recently had one outside my apartment door here in Charleston painting. He was about 3 feet from my front door.
As I came out my door, he GROWLED at me.
"I pointed out [to Graham] that a lot of them have diseases and are working in our meat packing plants. It is easy
for these diseases [such as hepatitis and parasites] to be spread through the raw meat."
She then went on to say that, "There have been Approximately 45,000 Americans murdered/killed by illegals since Sept.
11,2001.
"This is about where Lindsey lost it. He started yelling and shaking his finger at people and saying, 'Oh sure!
All the illegals are criminals! Let's be afraid! They're going to give us diseases! Oh sure! Let's be afraid!'"
Sheri says there is good reason for the fear. "I confess, I am very afraid of being brutally raped, tortured and
murdered. It is my biggest fear actually." Illegal aliens have victimized hundreds of thousands of American citizens
over the past thirty years and it's only getting worse according to the crime statistics.
Graham then goes on to accuse her of saying ALL illegal aliens are "bad people" and that is plainly NOT what
she said nor meant. She objected and he reiterated, "No, that's exactly what you said!" Graham obviously has little
capacity for rational, logical thought processes on this matter.
"I then tried to talk over [Graham who had a microphone and amplifier system] and said those jobs used to pay a lot
more than that before all the illegals came along."
Graham then used the tired old argument regarding our immigrant ancestors as if we were still a frontier country with
land to settle and needed to import laborers who will work for slave wages.
Sheri had the perfect response to that: "[Y]es, but they came here LEGALLY to BECOME AMERICANS!"
Graham revealed his true motives next when he asked, "How many people understand about who's plucking the chickens?
Let me tell you--let me tell you about jobs. Do you know what it pays for a Batesburg-Leesville chicken processing plant
job? $12.00 an hour! How many people think you can fill those jobs from the American workforce at $12.00 an hour?"
Sheri continues,"At that point one of the young male waiters raised his hand!
"I confess I didn't keep my cool like I should have, but to be fair I simply was raising my voice in order to be
heard over his ranting. I finally did my hand like one of the Price is Right models showing a product on stage and said, 'Folks,
this is his true colors. He is pro-amnesty!'"
It's obvious that Graham does not care about women's personal safety concerns in dealing with a new and dangerous element
of our society that should not be here according to the laws of the land.
Instead of providing a thoughtful answer and displaying the empathy that a normal human being would, Graham mocked Sheri
as if her concerns were hysterical and nonsensical. Perhaps Graham should ask the parents of Terrance Aeriel, Dashon Harvey,
and Iofemi Hightower, college students murdered in New Jersey or the fathers of Jennifer Ertman and Elizabeth Pena, the two
14 year old girls in Texas who were raped and murdered if Sheri's fear of illegal alien criminals are irrational.
Graham's tactic was to denigrate her and to attempt to humiliate her into silence. His despicable behavior is plainly
not that of a gentleman and definitely not worthy of a U.S. Senator from South Carolina.
How can South Carolinians tolerate someone who has no respect for South Carolinians in general and displays utter disdain
towards so many upset individual citizens in particular?
Sheri best sums up Graham's attitude: "Who cares about our physical safety as long as Graham's cronies get cheap
labor?"
Graham certainly does not!
